The Lowdown

What's going down, what's up, what's on...

As many of you will by now be aware, the Lowdown in its previous format has not been available since New Year as we await news of future funding possibilities.  Once we know what will happen, we are planning to relaunch the Lowdown (either in printed or web format) and include it as part of a tiered membership scheme, including other benefits and discounts. Anyone who has paid for more copies of the Lowdown than they have received has been given the option of a refund or to put the money towards one of the new membership packages.  We will keep you posted on this as soon as we have more news for you.

Don't forget to sign up to our newsletter to continue getting all the latest news of opportunities and competitions for writers - and as before, if you have an opportunity you would like us to publicise for you among our readers, please email us.

Here is some information about what the Lowdown has traditionally included, and what you can expect from us in the future...

Aimed at anyone interested in new writing for performance, The Lowdown is a mix of industry news, comment and reflection.

You'll find debates on current topics,  and updates on all things NWP.

Writers on writing...

We ask writers who have benefited from NWP workshops and classes to share their experiences and keep us updated with their progress as writers.

In Lowdown 99 (September - November 2011), we hear from writers John Hoyle and Lucy Beaumont on their 24:7 Theatre Festival experience;  our new writing class coming up with Lancaster Litfest; Tam Hinton on winning the Not Part Of festival's Best New Play award, and much more...

For more on events, competitions, courses and other new writing highlighs, subscribe to The Lowdown by emailing or calling us.

If you'd like to contribute to The Lowdown we'd be delighted to hear from you - but please do run your ideas past us before setting out on a major piece of writing.

Writers' opportunities...

We include details of local, national and international workshops, competitions and training opportunities. If you have any writing opportunities to share with other subscribers, please email us with the subject line: LOWDOWN OPPS.
