Arts Council Decision...

It was a massive disappointment to find out last Wednesday that we will not be included in the National Portfolio - so we will not be getting further core funding from Arts Council England as of April 2012. Prominent playwright David Edgar, President of the Writers' Guild of Great Britain, commented "we are very disturbed by the decision to cut....the groundbreaking North West Playwrights".

However, at least for the coming year we are certain that we can carry out our planned programme of work. For 30 years NWP has been developing, supporting and nurturing writers of drama - and we're not about to stop. Despite this huge reduction in our funding all at NWP are determined to continue with our important work while surviving and thriving in these very difficult times.

We'll be taking some time to reflect on these changes but in the meantime we would like to thank everyone who has been in touch with us to wish us well and thank everyone who has supported us over the years.
