North West Playwrights team up with Wordsmith 2012

Three fantastic NWP events lined up for Wordsmith 2012!

We are delighted to confirm that we will be hosting three events at this year's Wordsmith Festival at the Oldham Coliseum Theatre. The first of these, taking place on 5th May, will be a professional masterclass aimed at writers with some experience. We are thrilled that this class will be taught by Amanda Whittington, one of the UK's most popular and accomplished playwrights. Details on how to apply will be coming soon.

Secondly, on 10th May we will be holding a script in hand performance of Orphans and Bastards by Rachel Smith, a fantastic brand new work from a local playwright whose talent caught our eye when we received her script through our script reading service. Performed by a team of professional actors under the guidance of a professional director, this is an exciting chance to support and get involved in the development process of a new play from a new writer.

Finally on 12th May, we will be holding a lively panel discussion about theatre writing for young people: the trials and tribulations of this area and how we can best serve the younger audience. Speakers include Chris Wallis (Watershed Productions), Elizabeth Newman and writers from Mini-Incubate (Bolton Octagon Theatre.) More to be confirmed very soon.

We are really hope you may be able to join us at one or more of these events, and we'll keep you posted on these pages very soon!
